Police arrest robbery gang leader linked to Dadease and Yawnkruma attacks

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspected robbery gang leader and several accomplices connected to a series of attacks in Dadease, Yawnkruma, and other areas in the Ashanti Region. According to police, the arrests followed days of surveillance and intelligence work by officers in Kumawu. On April 25, 2026, the alleged leader, Kofi Adu, was arrested at Onwe near Ejisu after being traced through a mobile money number linked to one of the victims. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly mentioned five accomplices: Owusu Patrick (also known as Ike), Obeng Francis (Amani), Abdul Karim Nurudeen (Kusheshe), Akwasi Agyei (Show Boy), and Edem. Police later arrested four of the suspects at different locations. However, Edem is still on the run and is believed to be armed. The suspects were handed over to the Effiduase Police Station along with items retrieved during the operation. These included a Toshiba laptop, eight mobile phones, a vehicle number plate (GN 886-19), substances suspected to be charms, a Ghana Card, and an insurance card. Investigations also led police to one of the victims, Nana Serwaa, who confirmed she was robbed of GH¢8,800 in Yawnkruma. She said she had reported the case earlier to the Maap3 Police Station. She also alleged that she and her family were mistreated during the attack, which led to complications and the loss of her three-month pregnancy. Another victim, Nana Konadu from Dadease, confirmed that the gang robbed her of GH¢55,000 and damaged property in her home. She said the case had been reported in November 2025 but she had not received any updates until now.
