According to the minister, the initiative is part of efforts to enhance online safety and protect children and young people from exposure to inappropriate content on the internet.
Speaking on the matter, Sam George explained that the proposed system would ensure that only adults of legal age can gain access to adult-oriented websites through a secure identity verification process.
He noted that the proposal forms part of a broader strategy to promote responsible internet use and strengthen regulations within Ghana’s digital space.
The minister added that consultations with relevant stakeholders are ongoing, and the proposal will go through the necessary review and approval procedures before any decision is taken on its implementation.
If adopted, the policy would introduce tighter restrictions on access to adult content online and could significantly reshape how such websites are accessed in Ghana.
