Ejisu MCE, “I Won’t Be Sacked”

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu, Jerryne Asante, says she will not be removed from office following a recent clash involving some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Her comments come after a violent incident at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, which she claims was triggered by her decision to halt what she described as an illegal attempt to sell state-owned land. Speaking on Nhyira FM on April 30, Asante maintained that she acted within her mandate to protect government property. She alleged that some local NDC executives were involved in the attempted transaction, including Gloria Huze. Asante described the incident as an act of sabotage aimed at pushing for her dismissal by President John Dramani Mahama. However, she insisted her actions align with the government’s “Resetting Agenda” and expressed confidence she will remain in her role. She also cautioned party members against actions that could damage the NDC’s image, warning that past mistakes should not be repeated. The MCE further addressed reports about her health, confirming she is currently receiving medical care but stating it is unrelated to the incident.
