Unemployed Man Returns GH¢4,000 Found at ATM

Staff at the Oyarifa branch of Fidelity Bank Ghana in Accra were left impressed after an unemployed man returned GH¢4,000 he found in an ATM tray. The man, Emmanuel Appiah Boateng, had gone to withdraw money using his wife’s card to meet urgent family needs when he discovered the cash left behind. Instead of keeping it, he immediately reported the incident through the bank’s helpline and followed instructions to secure the money. Despite being unemployed for nine months and supporting a family of four, Emmanuel said he chose to act according to his values, even in the face of strong temptation. He later returned to the bank on April 26, 2026, and handed over the full amount to help locate the rightful owner. Bank officials praised his honesty, describing the act as rare, especially at a time when many are struggling with the rising cost of living. An alumnus of Opoku Ware School, Emmanuel shared his experience with members of his church, the Faith Life Family Assemblies of God, encouraging others to uphold integrity in difficult times.
